Anita joins NMIT from ANZ and has also held senior leadership positions with Oranga Tamariki, the Ministry for Primary Industries and leading consulting firms, overseeing large-scale digital, information, insights and enabling services functions.
Her career began in tertiary education at Victoria University before expanding across government and the private sector, making her return to the education sector a natural next step.
With a background spanning technology, people leadership and organisational transformation, Anita is passionate about using digital capability and data to improve experiences and outcomes for staff, learners and communities.
“I see digital as an enabler. Technology should help people achieve more, support great teaching and learning, and create better experiences for both staff and learners.”
As NMIT continues strengthening its capability as an independent institute, Anita says her initial focus will be on building strong foundations across digital and information services.
"The priority is understanding where we are, ensuring we have stable foundations, and working alongside colleagues across the organisation to identify where digital capability can best support NMIT's strategic direction."
Anita has been living in Te Tauihu since 2024, dividing her time between the region and Wellington before making the move permanent. She says she is excited to contribute to an organisation that plays such an important role in the region's future.
"NMIT is woven into the fabric of Te Tauihu. It has a unique opportunity to support learners, industry and communities as the region continues to evolve, and I'm looking forward to being part of that journey."
