Recognition of Academic Credit (RAC)

If you’ve completed a previous study qualification or have industry experience, you may be eligible for:

  • Credit transfer or cross-credit (from other courses)
  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), which is used to evaluate your existing knowledge and skills.

Apply for RAC in four simple steps

  1. Complete the NMIT Application form(external link) for the programme you want to apply RAC to.
  2. Submit your application form and supporting documentation to enrolments@nmit.ac.nz, along with payment of the $1,000.00 RAC fee.
  3. A subject-matter expert will review your documentation and contact you to discuss your application. This process may take 1-3 months, depending on the complexity of your application.
  4. NMIT will inform you of the outcome after the RAC Committee formally approves it.

Fees

The $1,000.00 fee covers the $50 application fee plus $50 per hour (19 hours) of required assessment time.  If the assessment time takes less than 19 hours, we will refund the difference.
