Build on your rafting skills and develop the guiding, leadership, and instructional capability required to operate confidently with clients in real whitewater environments.
This Raft Guiding short course is designed for experienced rafters who are ready to move beyond personal technical skills and into leading, instructing, and guiding clients on the river.
Over two days, you’ll develop the skills to:
- Plan and deliver rafting trips
- Manage groups
- Apply risk management strategies
- Communicate clearly with clients in a range of river environments.
Learning is highly practical and takes place in real rafting locations, with opportunities to guide under both direct and indirect supervision.
Both this course and the River Rescue(external link) course are needed to prepare you for the NZRA River Rescue Workshop(external link), setting you up to achieve your New Zealand Rivers Association (NZRA) Grade 3 Raft Guide Award.
