The Compulsory Student Services Fee (CSSF) supports a wide range of services designed to enhance your experience at NMIT. These services foster a supportive and inclusive environment, helping students achieve academic success and personal well-being.

What is the CSSF?

The CSSF is a compulsory non-tuition fee charged to NMIT students based on their study load (credits).  It helps fund student support services and activities as outlined by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC), ensuring services meet the needs of all learners while complying with government guidelines.

CSSF for 2026

Following consultation with our learners, the 2026 fee for a full-time student at NMIT is a maximum of $300, inclusive of GST (indicative). Part-time students pay a proportion of this fee based on the number of credits they are studying, and the fee may vary depending on their course selection. The CSSF can be checked in the course details.

Based on ākonga feedback, this 15% fee increase was set for 2026, to maintain and improve current service levels.

Year

Fee per credit Full-time fee (120 credits)
2024 $2.05 $246.00
2025 $2.17 $260.76
2026 $2.50 $300.00

The fee is subject to annual review, and NMIT actively consults students on the fee amount and how funds are allocated. We also report on the use of the fee in our annual report.
