Chaiyaphat Kohskarika, also known as Super, is studying animation at NMIT in Nelson and says the course’s practical approach is helping students gain valuable skills and connections for their future careers.

“Anybody that would like to gain something from studying a more practical studying style, we have a lot of teachers that have a lot of motivation to do movie and film,” says Super.

“Our tutors have a lot of connections. For example, the animation tutor right now used to be involved with Avengers: Endgame and Guardians of the Galaxy.”

These industry connections allow students to learn from experienced professionals and understand how real-world animation and CGI projects are created.

“They help you with a lot of stuff, know a lot of people, and that’s such a great community to be with,” he says.

NMIT’s animation and computer-generated imagery programmes combine hands-on learning with opportunities to connect with industry professionals, giving students the skills and experience to succeed in the creative sector.
