This is a basic introductory course to electric arc, MIG and TIG welding with aluminium and steel.

During the course you will learn and practice various welding techniques; however no projects as such will be undertaken. Please note there will be no assessments, certificates issued or unit standards credited at the end of the course.

Safety boots, non-synthetic overalls and safety glasses. If you do not have these, covered shoes, old clothing - long sleeve top, long pants and safety glasses are required.

If you are a full-time secondary school student, NMIT is able to enrol you if you meet all of the following:

are 16 years of age and over, and
attend this course outside of normal school hours, and
have obtained approval from your school principal (or approval from your home school supervisor if you are homeschooled).

Fee information

Fee includes GST, levy and all materials are provided.

Please enrol at least five working days (or as soon as you can) before the date of the course starts to ensure your place on the course as places are limited.

Note, we are unable to run courses without sufficient numbers, NMIT reserves the right to cancel or reschedule courses if insufficient enrolments are received. If this situation occurs, you will be advised at least three working days before the course is due to start.
