This course will develop students’ critical knowledge of liberation models that have been used by indigenous communities in order to preserve their unique status as First Nations to secure their human rights, particularly the inherent right to self-determination and sovereignty. Students will critically examine a range of phenomena that have given rise to indigenous liberation movements worldwide.
