Jessica’s award-winning project explores the relationship between people, infrastructure and the natural environment. She photographed and processed 100 different intersections, creating a striking visual tapestry that impressed judges with its technical execution and environmental message.
Judges described the work as “incredible”, praising its powerful commentary on how people interact with the landscape.
Jessica also received multiple awards across the Landscape, Documentary and Creative categories, reflecting the breadth of her photographic practice and commitment to visual storytelling.
Her work includes creative conceptual photography, documentary projects and research-informed practice, including photography exploring health and social issues.
This industry and research experience feeds directly into her teaching at NMIT, giving students valuable insight into professional photography, ethical practice, visual storytelling and working with clients.
Jessica’s success at the IRIS Awards highlights the calibre of creative practice within NMIT and the value of connecting classroom learning with contemporary industry experience.

Jessica’s winning prints are on display in the G-Block atrium, (Nelson Campus, accessed from Nile Street) from Tuesday 18 August until Tuesday 1 September. Staff, students and visitors are welcome to take a look.
