Learn how you can be a part of an industry that promotes New Zealand’s top attractions and destinations and is leading the way when it comes to environmental sustainability.
The Top of the South region is abundant with natural beauty and resources drawing tourists to the area all year round and providing them not only with land and sea activities but some of the best seafood, wines and culinary delights in New Zealand.
Our students in turn are provided a dynamic place to study with programmes that offer great support, industry experience, and the opportunity to be at the forefront of a new wave of hospitality and tourism. You can be sure that you’ll graduate with the skills you need to succeed.
NMIT’s programmes provide a direct pathway into employment through New Zealand Certificates that give you practical customer service and sales skills for a range of frontline jobs.
People who want to elevate their career and step up to a supervisory or management position will find that the Tourism and Hospitality Management programme offers a way to streamline both Diploma’s in just 18-months, and a pathway to advance your career as a dynamic manager that can work across both industries. Alternatively, you can study these Diplomas individually.
With courses in managing people, effective industry marketing, operation and management practices, digital technology and event management, you’ll come away with the skills to lead and run a hospitality or tourism business.
Programmes are delivered via a blend of real-world learning, research, work placements, field trips and classroom lessons, as well as hands-on hospitality experience in our on-campus restaurant, Rata Room.
You’ll connect with local hospitality and tourism operators, make valuable contacts in the industry, and potentially even land a job before you graduate.
