The following courses are available to you as part of the Intermediate Community Computing Programme: Word, Excel, Desktop Publishing and Database.

These free online courses allow you to up-skill at your own pace, from anywhere you have an internet connection.

Enrolling in the courses gives you access to resources which are stored online. You will need a broadband connection and Microsoft Office 2003/2007/2010.

The programme is self-paced and there is limited support but all of the instruction manuals are step by step. The applications offered are:

MS Word (Intermediate)
MS Excel (Intermediate)
MS Publisher (Intermediate)
MS Access Database (Intermediate).

Entry requirements

To be eligible to enrol on this ACE Course, you must be:

a New Zealand citizen or resident
16 years of age or over
not a full-time secondary school student*

*If you are a full-time secondary school student, you may be able to enrol on this course if:

you are 16 years of age or over
attend this course outside of normal school hours
have obtained approval from the relevant school principal and
have obtained approval from the TEC to enrol – please allow NMIT at least 14 working days before course start date to obtain approval from TEC. If approval is not gained before the course start date, you will be shifted to the next available intake.

You will receive online access to workbooks and files which form part fo the Introductory Community Computing Programme.

As the delivery of the programme is self-study, you may study from home, work or at the library of one of NMIT's campus where you can access our general student support services.
