Maritime

The International Maritime Institute of New Zealand (IMINZ) is a leading provider of training for the fishing, maritime transport and maritime tourism industries.
Maritime Transport

At NMIT we invest in modern training equipment, including a virtual bridge navigation simulator, lifeboat, Kongsberg full mission marine engineering simulator, fast rescue boat, speed boats and New Zealand’s only three-storey fire training facility.

Based near a port that houses New Zealand’s largest fishing fleet, you’ll learn from tutors who are experienced and qualified seafarers with many years of experience between them.

 Facilities

Our world-class maritime facilities ensure you’ll get hands-on, real-world experience and education. We offer bridge navigation simulators, ECDIS simulators, full mission marine engineering simulation, cargo ship’s lifeboat and launching davits, New Zealand’s only three-storey maritime fire-fighting training facility and a fast rescue boat. We’re constantly upgrading our equipment and facilities to maintain our position as a world-renowned maritime institute.
