Start your career in music with this introductory certificate that will give you a broad base and assist you towards further study in the music field.
This introductory programme will give you elementary technical studio skills specific to Contemporary Band Music.
You will develop skills in playing at least one instrument in a variety of popular music styles and to perform as part of a band.
The programme will broadly cover music theory and notation, and will teach you to compose and perform your own musical composition.
Develop key transferable and practical skills in problem solving, meeting set deadlines, basic research, communication and computer skills, and be able to develop, realise and evaluate your own work.
You will have the opportunity to practice your skills in performance, event management, as a sound technician and other roles during monthly performances in the on-campus Johnny Cash performance venue.
Students can progress onto the Diploma in Arts and Media (Contemporary Music) with a second year of study.
