Lynn Bruning
Lynn has enjoyed a social work career spanning twenty years.

Born and raised in Dunedin, Lynn joined the Navy in her late teens. She settled in Nelson with her husband and their first child a while later and picked up some part-time work at Barnardos. This introduced her to a career in social work.

“I completed a social work degree through Massey University whilst working and raising a family,” she says. “I then completed the Post Graduate Diploma in Social Service Supervision and a Master in Social Work.”

Joining NMIT as a contractor in 2018, Lynn has been a permanent staff member since 2022. She is a Registered Social Worker and a member of Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social Workers.

“I like to facilitate learning within group discussions to encourage critical thinking and the sharing of ideas,” Lynn says.

“My objective is to role model supervision practice to engage students to reflect on their own world views, beliefs and ideas by creating a safe space for sharing and learning.”
