Reuben Chapman
Raised primarily in Motueka, Reuben’s journey into aviation began right here at NMIT. After completing his studies at Woodbourne in 2019, he moved to Auckland to pursue a career as a Licensed Aircraft Engineer. Over the next five years, he worked on a variety of helicopters in the civilian sector.

“After doing the big city life, I was ready to move back to the small town and pass on my knowledge,” Reuben says.

Reuben holds multiple aircraft ratings and brings a modern, industry-relevant perspective to the classroom. With experience on current aircraft systems and up-to-date maintenance procedures, he ensures students are learning cutting-edge aviation engineering.

“As a licensed and rated Aircraft Engineer, I can bring current, real-world experience to the classroom,” he says. “My goal is to provide a fresh and relevant take on what students need to succeed in the industry.”

Reuben endeavors to make each session as beneficial to students as possible.

“I try my utmost best to make sure my classroom is an inclusive, engaging, hands-on learning space. I strongly believe that both learning and working spaces require fun, as it keeps morale high and allows everyone to maximize their time.”

Now back in his hometown region, Reuben is passionate about supporting the next generation of aviation engineers and helping them build the technical skills and confidence needed for their careers.
