Eva Virtue

Eva Virtue has had her finger on the pulse of the travel and tourism industry for three decades.

Born and raised in Austria, Eva started working in the travel industry after moving to New Zealand in 1991.

Since then, she has worked as a Travel Consultant for several of New Zealand’s leading travel companies, including Flight Centre, Orbit, House of Travel, and Black Sheep Touring Co.

“For most of this time I have spread my passion between inbound tourism into New Zealand, helping guests find the best this beautiful country has to offer, and travel abroad to other and equally as exciting parts of the world.”

She also spent seven years building her own inbound internet-based travel agency in the early days of online bookings.

Eva has always loved travel and culture and had the opportunity to travel around Europe, the United States, and Asia from a young age.

She has continued to explore the world throughout her life, occasionally working remotely for travel companies as a modern-day digital nomad.

Eva worked as a Programme Coordinator and Tutor at NMIT teaching the Certificate in Tourism(external link) from 2003-2008.

She returned to NMIT as a Tutor on NMIT’s Hospitality and Tourism(external link) programmes in 2021 .

Eva says she enjoys drawing from her extensive industry and personal experiences to create an engaging, interactive learning environment.

“I like to share my knowledge and pass on my experience in a field I've spent 30 years of my life in.”

Eva is in the process of building her own tourism business.

She’s a member of Regional Tourism New Zealand and keeps up-to-speed with industry trends and developments.
