Each year in addition to the Graduation Ceremonies(external link), our Business school likes to organise an awards ceremony to recognise the achievements of students throughout the year.
Local business' Nelson Pine Industries and Findex got behind the awards with generous donations to this year's winners.
Excellence awards are given to the top academic graduating student. To be considered for this award student must have received an A+ average across their qualification. One award is given for each of the Bachelor of Commerce, Graduate Diploma, Postgraduate Certificate and Masters.
This year Jeewani Niroshya Wawinnage received the Nelson Pine Industries Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Management Excellence Award and Nelli Asmatullayeva received the Nelson Pine Industries Master of Applied Management Excellence Award.
Undergraduate Excellence Awards also sponsored by Nelson Pine Industries went to Chrizzele Sonsing for the Graduate Diploma and Christopher Hollands for the Bachelor of Commerce.
Academic improvement awards are awarded to students at any stage of their qualification, who have shown an increase in performance and active participation in class.
This year these were awarded to Inoka Rajapaksha Mudiyanselage and Nandita Rao.
The NMIT Te Tohu Manaaki o Nga Tauira o 2020 awards are given to students who are identified by staff to have shown particular hospitality, kindness, generosity, and support towards their fellow students.
This year's recipients are Anna Mae Angeles and Emma Schroder.
The memorial cup in honour of Sue Malthus for Outstanding Academic Excellence, kindly sponsored by Findex is awarded to the overall top academic student across all disciplines graduating in 2020.
This award was presented to Christopher Hollands.
