During this course you will gain the skills to undertake appropriate first aid within a conservation environment.

This course covers:

  • Provide basic first aid and basic life support
  • Manage first aid in an emergency situation.

This course assesses for unit standards:

  • Unit 6400 Manage first aid in an emergency situation
  • Unit 6401 Provide first aid
  • Unit 6402 Provide basic life support
  • Unit 424 Assess and manage an emergency care situation during an outdoor recreation activity

Required first-aid pre-training

If you are a successful applicant for the Kaitiaki Whenua Trainee Ranger(external link) or Kaitiaki Whenua – Project Moturoa(external link) programmes, then we run set first aid courses for you so you can complete these before starting the programme, register your interest today.

This training is Nelson-based and is usually held 2-4 weeks prior to the start date of the programmes. Students outside of Nelson who cannot attend will need to complete this training independently.
