Laurie Lu
Laurie Lu is a full-time tenured senior academic staff member in the Department of Applied Business and English Language.

He is a New Zealand trained and registered teacher, having over 30 years of teaching experience in New Zealand and overseas. Laurie holds a master’s degree in linguistics and Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching. His on-going professional development can be exemplified and highlighted by National Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education (L5), National Certificate in Adult Education and Training (L5) and a series of other training like Extending Social Skills for Success in International Education.

Laurie holds a positive outlook and shows constantly his sound work ethic by being able to work under pressure and teaching a variety of mixed-level classes ranging from Level 2 to Level 5. Laurie’s good-humoured personality ensures him a pleasing and rewarding working relationship with his students and colleagues.

 Laurie is an active participant in the research projects that aim to achieve the aspired improvement of teaching practices and/or guide the formation and implementation of strategic targets for the programme. Examples include feasibility study on adopting NZCEL (2011), presentation on 3-paradigm of connection in lexical acquisition at CLESOL conference 2013, presentation on EAP unit standards assessments at ATLAANZ 2016 and over ten research publications overseas.
