Graduation Ceremony Guide
This guide is for students walking the stage and whānau celebrating with them. Watch the video to learn about arrival, seating, the ceremony process, and the highlights that make the day special.
The ceremony includes certificate and diploma recognition, Bachelor’s capping with the trencher, cultural celebrations like haka and waiata, and memorable whānau cheering. Accessibility support is available at all our venues, with ushers ready to assist.

Congratulations! NMIT is so excited to welcome the graduating learners (graduands) of 2025 to our graduation ceremonies. To help make your graduation the stress-free celebration it deserves to be, you will find all the information you need to know here.

We have a fantastic number of graduates for 2025, and this year, we are doing things a little differently. The parade will take place before each ceremony, departing from NMIT.

Time to celebrate! Join your graduand in the foyer for some light refreshments, laughs, and photos. |
Guests are requested to arrive by 9:30 am to be seated as promptly as possible, so we can then lead our graduating students to their seats.
Parking at the venue is limited, and we recommend parking either at NMIT and joining us for the parade or using one of the parking options available around Nelson City (see the link above).
