Claire Dallison
Claire Dallison made the conscious decision to work in education so she could make a positive impact on more people.

Having previously been the ‘strength and conditioner’ of the New Zealand Tall Blacks and the Nelson Giants, Claire has spent a lot of time working in exercise-based rehabilitation. She made the move into education as she has a strong desire to help people develop themselves.

“I am an educator who is passionate about supporting students,” she says.

Currently a trainer with the Nelson Giants and a consultant to a couple of international basketball clubs, Claire values both the science of sport and the need for sport to maintain wellness in peoples' lives.

“I love sport and exercise and have always been involved in the industry.”

Working alongside students she uses as much practical reinforcement and experience as possible.

“Students get the opportunity to grow themselves and gain the skills and confidence to help others,” she says.

Claire believes as the need for fitness and wellness becomes even more of a focus for government and communities, it’s a perfect time to get a qualification and enter this industry.

“NMIT is a great place to study sport and recreation as you have personalised, applied practical opportunities.”
