It doesn't get much more real than preparing and serving food to paying customers - and you'll do just that in our commercial kitchen and training restaurant.
Our hospitality and cookery facilities include;
- a full commercial kitchen with state of the art combi moffat ovens, sous-vide cookery water bath from the UK, four litre ice-cream machine, blast chiller, 19 gas cookers with ovens and a room full of pots, pans and small equipment
- our training restaurant with a fully functional bar to learn about beer, wine and cocktail making, a purpose-built coffee lab with four new coffee machines and two grinders, and a restaurant area which can seat up to 45 guests

Our training restaurant The Rata Room provides a realistic environment for you to prepare for your hospitality career. You'll perfect your skills in a real-world environment under the guidance of expert tutors - while diners get to enjoy a cut-price dining experience.
You will get to experience all aspects of running a cafe or restaurant. Cookery and hospitality students team up to run The Rata Room - from preparing top quality food in the commercial kitchen to making coffees, taking orders or serving wine at the table.
