This course is intended to provide the knowledge required to enable personnel to appreciate and understand ship security issues.
Upon successful completion of this course you should be able to contribute to improved maritime security through heightened awareness and the ability to recognize threats and to respond appropriately.
Upon completion of this course, you will receive an STCW Seafarer Security Awareness Certificate. The training meets the requirements of STCW Section VI/6 Table A-VI/6-1.
This is an online course which can be completed from anywhere you have an internet connection. Computers are available on the NMIT Nelson and Marlborough campus' if you do not have your own device. Please note the usual time the time to complete this course from your initial application, to issue of your certificate is 1-2 weeks. You will be given access to the training material for at least two months, please talk to us if you require additional time to complete.

Students who successfully complete this course should be able to contribute to the enhancement of maritime security through heightened awareness and the ability to recognize security threats and to respond appropriately. This course meets the requirements of STCW 1978 as amended, Section A-III/1.
