Designed for absolute beginners, this short course focuses on methods, techniques, and designs specific to textile printing.
Course aims
Participants will learn the fundamentals of screen printing through exploring a range of processes, techniques and the safe use of equipment.
- Understanding the technical aspects of screen printing using a process-based approach
- Generating and preparing your own designs suitable for textile printing
- Preparing, coating, and developing a screen using photographic emulsions
- Producing and applying hand-cut stencils to screens
- Developing hand-inking skills with the opportunity to advance into more challenging techniques during the course
- Understanding colour mixing including working transparent and opaque based inks
- Learning production techniques through experimentation and testing
- Printing a variety of designs on a range of fabrics and/or garments
