Sometimes study needs to fit around your life rather than the other way around - right? We get it, which is why we're constantly working to make it as easy as possible to study with us. Here are some of the ways you can learn on your terms.
Most of our programmes (about 70%) can be studied part-time. Programmes are made up of a number of different courses (sometimes called papers). If you are studying part-time, you might choose to enrol in just a few courses each semester. As a part-time student, you'll be in the same classes with full-time students but it will take you longer to complete your qualification. Some programmes have conditions about the maximum amount of time you can take to complete your studies, so if you're thinking of studying part-time, its a good idea to have a chat with a programme manager or administrator first. Timetables showing class times for courses are normally available a few weeks before the start of each semester. Flexible programmes offer a blend of in-class, in-workplace and/or online study. For example, most of our business administration programmes can be studied full-time, part-time, in the workplace or at home. Other flexible programme enable you to study the theory as a distance learning package but also complete some practical work components at your workplace.
Some courses or programmes at NMIT are offered fully online. This means you can study them from anywhere in New Zealand, anytime it suits you, provided you have a computer with an internet connection and basic computer skills. Many of our business courses at diploma and degree level are available fully online. There are also online courses available in creative industries and aviation engineering.
