If you want to work in the Aquaculture industry, and have no previous experience this is the programme for you.

You will become familiar with the key aspects of the aquaculture industry and learn how to build functioning systems to house aquatic animals and then see them develop through key stages of their life cycle. The monitoring and recording of water quality that you carry out will be key to support these animals through their growth.

You will also be able to identify workplace hazards and demonstrate compliance with Health and Safety practices.

This programme uses a blended learning model, including practical hands-on classes, field trips and time spent on-site with industry.

Upon completion, you will be awarded New Zealand Certificate in Aquaculture (Hatchery) level 3.

The programme is also designed to enable you to pursue further study in this field.
