Heather Verstappen
English Language Tutor

Heather Verstappen

Heather Verstappen
Heather has taught English to speakers of other languages for around twenty years.

She finds the classroom environment is always interesting because of the diversity of cultures – with students coming from Europe, South America, the Middle East, South East Asia and China. The mix of domestic and international students adds another dimension.

Currently, the English Language Programme is being redeveloped nationwide. The New Zealand Qualifications Authority is standardising assessments and Heather is on the team to help with this process. She has previously taught at Nayland College, the Motueka Rudolf Steiner School and at NMIT as a Foundation Studies and previously as an English Language tutor. She has also worked with children and adults with learning difficulties.

“I enjoy the dynamics and challenges of the classroom, but mostly I enjoy getting to know and engage with the learners so I can guide them further along their learning path.”

Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Social Science, Post Graduate Diploma in Second Language Teaching, Licentiate of Neuro-Developmental Delay Therapy
