When I was a young child and my mother sat by my bed to opened a book of wonderful tales, it was time to enter an enchanted world. Across the landscapes of my imagination, I escorted a hero through his or her journey. I trusted this hero and knew that in the midst of dark woods, fighting the night’s monster, we would find victory together.

Through my screen prints I have explored the symbols and archetypes present in tales and considered their meaning within my life. I have revisited well-known narratives, passages from old legends collected by French author Charles Perrault. Combining screen printing, drawing, painting, object and text, my images echo one into another, creating a rhythm and a new narrative in which the hero ‘who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself’, reaches for their noblest humanity.
