“My aim was always to ensure I was certified in New Zealand, but this programme was more than becoming certified,” Tatiana says.
“It turned out I was able to add so much more to my toolbox and life experience.”
Tatiana already had a Master’s degree in counselling and highly-experienced professional who wanted to continue to upskill throughout her career.
Tatiana wanted to study Professional Supervision at NMIT in order to meet the New Zealand standard of education.
Professional supervisors assist other professionals with workplace issues and help to find solutions in a safe and confidential space.
NMIT offers a Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Supervision (Level 8)(external link), a 20-week programme designed to extend and deepen professional knowledge and skills in the fields of health, education, social practice and management.
There are full-time and part-time options available so that study can fit around work and family commitments. The programme also consists of online, face-to-face workshops, and group learning.
“The online learning part of this programme allowed reflective time which is so important,” Tatiana says.
“I’m glad that we have a mixture of both face-to-face and online learning.”
Tatiana says the programme was challenging and has contributed significantly to her role as a counsellor, life coach, and supervisor.
“It’s an amazing programme. When I decided I wanted to get certified I didn’t only want to upgrade my knowledge, I wanted to do so in an academic environment and this is exactly what I received at NMIT,” she says.
“I feel that I’m more professional after this programme. I have well upgraded myself.”
