Diploma in Adventure Tourism Leadership

At NMIT, we teach people like you to become outdoor guides and instructors for the adventure tourism industry, both beginners and outdoor lovers. Make the wilderness of the diverse Top of the South your classroom, from the turquoise waters and golden sands of the Abel Tasman to the rugged mountain terrain of Kahurangi or the snow capped peaks of Nelson Lakes.

With this programme you'll work closely with adventure operators to gain experience in the adventure tourism industry. Building on from the Diploma in Adventure Tourism, you'll be able to gain industry tickets, develop instruction and leadership techniques or choose tourism management courses to enhance your business skills.

Compulsory courses include adventure tourism leadership, environmental tourism management, industry specialisation and tourism practicum. Students can also choose to study in three additional areas including cultural tourism, tourism industry management, tourism marketing, human resource management, information technology, principles of tourism or customer relations.
