  • Equity

    Open to Pacific Island, Maori, person with a disability, women, rural or ESOL (NZ resident) and studying full time towards a nationally recognised qualification at NMIT.

  • Nelson Marlborough Freemasons Charity

    Open to full time, full year students at NMIT, studying at either Nelson or Marlborough campus, showing good motivation and some degree of financial hardship.

  • Pene Ruruku

    Available to Maori students showing potential to excel in their chosen field/s of study. Previous achievement may be taken into consideration. The student will have been accepted onto the programme in the chosen field/s of study. Students should show participation in whanau, marae, and/or iwi based activities.

  • Nelson Pine Industries

    Open to students in their second year of continuous study on the following programmes:
    • 1 x full time Bachelor of Information Technology (Level 6) at Nelson campus (excluding Half a Dregree for Free students) 
    • 1 x Bachelor of Commerce (Level 6) at Marlborough campus (excluding Half a Degree for Free students)
      Also:
    • 1 x full time student studying the Certificate in Beauty Therapy
    • 1 x full time student studying the Certificate in Advanced Professional Hairdressing
    Up to $500 per student - applications closing date 2pm, 22 February 2012, except for Beauty Therapy, which has a closing date of 2pm, 4 July 2012.

  • Toss Woollaston Art

    Open to students intending to study full time at NMIT on art or design programmes of at least one year. Students will need to provide a portfolio with their application.

    Open to highly motivated 2nd or 3rd year female degree students who have been/are experiencing personal hardship.

  • Tasman Rugby Union

    NMIT is the official education provider of the Tasman Rugby Union and the TNL Rugby Academy. This scholarship is open to members of the Tasman Rugby Union and Tasman Rugby Academy wanting to study full time or part time at NMIT. Scholarship amount variable. Applications close prior to semester start date. Conditions apply.

  • Central Region Rowing Development Trust

    NMIT is the official education provider of the Central Region Rowing Develoment Trust. This scholarship is open to members of the Trust wanting to study full time or part time at NMIT. Scholarship amount variable. Applications close prior to semester start date. Conditions apply.

  • Kain Scholarship for Women

    Open to motivated women studying full time at NMIT; one first year student and one second year student. 
    2 x $1000 - applications closing date 2pm, 22 February 2012.

  • Marine Farming Association

    Open to a graduate from Golden Bay High School who has spent at least one academic year in Year 13 and wants to study full time for the NMIT Diploma in Aquaculture (Fish Farming and Fishery Management).
    50 percent of full course fees for two years of study, to a maximum of $5500

    Open to applicants of the Certificate in Carpentry (Pre-Trade) at NMIT and who have attended a regional school for at least one year prior to the date of their application.

  • Gen-i

    Applications open to NZ citizens enrolled on Year One of the NMIT Bachelor of Information and Technology who are intending to major in ICT Infrastructure in years two and three. Applicants will need to provide a copy of their Year 1 BIT Academic Transcript, character/work references and a statement regarding their future career plans within the IT industry and long term commitment to the Top of the South Region.
    $2875 (incl GST) towards course fees - applications closing date 2pm, 22 February 2012.

    Open to students who have successfully completed year one of a diploma programme and plan to continue to year two, with the intention of completing the diploma.
    Up to 2 x $2500 - applications closing date 2pm, 22 February 2012.

  • Arrow International Ltd Trades Scholarship

    Open to students under 20 years of age wishing to study full time at NMIT after successful completion of the NMIT Certificate in Trades and Primary Industries, and enrolling in 2012 on a course leading to a recognised qualification in a Trades based programmes e.g. Automotive Engineering, Carpentry, Hairdressing, Beauty, Aviation Engineering and Conservation.

    Open to students enrolled on Year 1 of the NMIT Bachelor of Commerce – majoring in Management, Marketing and Accounting for 3 years.

  • Nelson Marlborough Freemasons Charity Scholarship
    Open to full time, full year students at NMIT, studying at either Nelson or Marlborough campus, showing good motivation and some degree of financial hardship.

  • Wither Hills
    Open to 2nd year Diploma in Viticulture and Wine Production students who intend to carry on to study the Lincoln University Bachelor of Viticulture and Oenology.
    Up to $4,000, plus $1000 per year, for two years, for attending the annual Bragato conference, paid work experience during semester breaks and summer holidays, plus the option of full time employment on completion of study.

Awards

In addition to the scholarships, a number of awards are given to completing students or those intending to take up further study. Recipients are nominated by their tutors and the awards are given to recognise excellence.

The awards include:

  • Arrow International Award for Excellence - two awards of $7000: one for Level 1-4, and one for level 5-7, given at graduation
  • Jens Hansen Excellence Award - one award of $500 for a graduate of the Bachelor of Arts and Media
  • NMIT Award for Excellence in the Field of Cookery - for a student with merit achievement for the Certificate in Cookery (Level 3), who has enrolled on the Certificate in Professional Cookery (Level 4) programme
  • NMIT Award for Excellence in the Field of Tourism - for a student who has completed year one of the Diploma in Tourism Management and has applied for year two
