Applications from International Students
International students can also apply online.
There are some steps that are different for students who do not live in New Zealand and Australia. This is what you will need to do if you live in another country:
Step 1: Make sure you have all the information you need
-
-
-
Send your enquiry to us by phone, fax, email or letter. We will send you relevant brochures and any specific requirements.
Step 2: Make your decision and apply
-
Complete the International Student Application Form with your personal details, what course you want to study, and your academic records - including your level of English (if applicable).
-
-
Complete the International Student Accommodation Form if you need assistance with your accommodation arrangements (NZ$100 non-refundable accommodation placement charge applies). This form is found on the last two pages of the main application form.
- There is an application charge of NZ$100. This must be included when you return your completed application form to us. Your application cannot be processed without this payment.
- You can also forward your application form and official documents through one of our approved agents. Please contact us by email for details of our agents in your country.
Step 3: We will notify you regarding our decision on your application
If NMIT accepts your application you will be sent the following Acceptance Documents:
- An 'Offer of Place'
- A 'Guarantee of Accommodation'
- An Acceptance Form (Mainstream programmes only)
- Notification of Fees
- Refund Policy
- Summary Code of Practice
- Information on compulsory travel and medical insurance
Step 4: You formally accept the offer (mainstream programmes only)
You formally accept our offer by returning a signed Acceptance Form and paying the fees outlined in the Notification of Fees and Charges. Click here for more details on payment options.
Step 5: NMIT will issue a receipt and confirmed offer
After we receive your payment we will send you:
- A receipt
- A confirmed offer of place
You will need to supply these documents to New Zealand Immigration if you are applying for a student visa.
Step 6: Apply for a Visa (if applicable)
You should now be ready to apply for your student visa, using the forms available from your local New Zealand Embassy, High Commission, our agent, or the New Zealand Immigration Service. Be sure to allow enough time to complete this procedure, it can take up to three months. Allow also enough time to organise your travel to New Zealand and please inform us about your travel arrangements. Click here for more information about visas.
Step 7: You start your studies!
You will be advised about the start date, time and venue of your programme. Most programmes have an orientation day at the start of the programme - your School will tell you about this.
