International Applications

Applications from International Students

International students can apply online or download a printable application form.

Here is a step-by-step guide to make you application as easy as possible:

Step 1: Make sure you have all the information you need

Step 2: Make your decision and apply

  • Send your application to us at international@nmit.ac.nz. If you need assistance with your accommodation arrangements please make sure that you complete the accommodation section of the International Student Application Form. A NZ$250 non-refundable accommodation placement charge applies. This form is found on the last two pages of the main application form. See more infomation on how to pay. 
  • You can also forward your application form and official documents through one of our approved agents. Please contact us for details of our agents in your country.

Step 3: We will notify you regarding our decision on your application

If NMIT accepts your application you will be sent the following Acceptance Documents:

  • Offer of Place
  • Confirmation of Acceptance Form
  • Notification of Student Fees
  • International Student Fees, Charges and Refund Policy
  • International Student Guide
  • Information on compulsory travel and medical insurance

Step 4: You formally accept the offer (mainstream programmes only)

You formally accept our offer by returning a signed Acceptance Form and paying the fees outlined in the Notification of Fees and Charges. For more information on please see details on payment options.

Step 5: NMIT will issue a receipt and confirmed offer

After we receive your payment we will send you:

  • A receipt
  • A confirmed offer of place

You will need to supply these documents to New Zealand Immigration if you are applying for a student visa.

Step 6: Apply for a Visa (if applicable)

You should now be ready to apply for your student visa, using the forms available from your local New Zealand Embassy, High Commission, our agent, or the New Zealand Immigration Service. Be sure to allow enough time to complete this procedure, it can take up to three months.

Step 7: You start your studies!

You will be advised about the start date, time and venue of your programme. Most programmes have an orientation day at the start of the programme - your School will tell you about this.
