Want to assist people in finding the right career pathway? This distance learning programme is designed to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes essential for people working in the field of career guidance.

The programme covers all aspects of career guidance, providing students with knowledge about the theoretical basis of the discipline, counselling skills and how to use a range of vocational assessment instruments. It also covers areas such as job search skills, cultural safety and the world of work in New Zealand.

Mixed mode delivery including paper based and online learning, seminars, workshops and work based training.

>Entry Requirements

Applicants under 20 years:

• 48 credits at NCEA L2, across four subjects, with a minimum of 12 credits in English; OR equivalent.

 

Applicants 20 years and over:

• Relevant documented work experience

Applicants whose first language is not English are required to demonstrate an IELTS academic score of 6.0 OR equivalent.

Graduates will have met the educational requirements for Professional Membership of the Career Practitioners Association of New Zealand and be equipped to work in the field of Career Guidance. The skills acquired will be useful in schools, employment agencies, personnel departments, or in private consultancy.
