Certificate in Professional Restaurant, Wine and Bar Service


Learn how to stand out as a service professional within the food and beverage industry through this programme. You'll perfect the art of cocktails and coffee making. Compulsory courses:
  • HSX201 Health and Safety in an Industry Environment
  • RWB301 Pre Service Food, Wine and Bar
  • RWB302 Food, Wine and Bar Service
Elective courses*:

  • RWB303 Professional Restaurant Service 
  • RWB304 Bar and Cocktails
  • RWB305 Wine
  • RWB306 Coffee Art
  • RWB307 Industry Practice

*Students may substitute up to two courses in this group, with courses from other programmes within the School of Tourism, Hospitality and Wellbeing. List available on request.

Entry requirements

Applicants under 20 years
:
  • A minimum of 3 years' secondary eductaion OR equivalent 
Applicants 20 years and over:
  • Open entry
All applicants:
  • Need to demonstrate a likelihood of success on the programme by interview or referee reports
  • Need the physical fitness to withstand the demands of the hospitality industry
Interviews address applicant's suitablity based on:
  • Genuine interest in people and the tourism/hospitality industry
  • Commitment to service
  • Positive open attitudes to learning and life in general
  • Openness to different ideas, approaches, lifestyles and cultures
  • Appropriate personal presentation
Applicants whose first language is not English are required to demonstrate an IELTS score of 5.5; OR equivalent.

Prior learning or work experience may be credited to this programme of study.
