Theory is linked with a highly practical application to enhance students’ employment prospects within the Merchant Navy. You will develop critical seamanship, ocean meteorology, management, signalling, mathematics and physics skills to advance and expand your future employment and learning options.

Courses may be classroom or practically-based using our new bridge simulator.

Duration:

  • 29 weeks

>Entry Requirements 

All applicants:

  • Be at least 19 years of age
  • Check seatime requirements with Maritime New Zealand

Ancillary certificates also required: Advanced Fire Fighting, PISC, GMDSS, Marine Medic, PSSR.

Students whose first language is not English are required to demonstrate an IELTS Academic score of 6.0 with no Band less than 5.5 issued within the last 2 years or equivalent.

Students will be able to apply theoretical knowledge and practical skills in maritime studies to future employment in the Merchant Navy.
