Year One: Certificate in Adventure Tourism
You'll develop the generic skills to work in the adventure tourism industry as well as skills specific to your chosen field of interest.
Year Two: Diploma in Adventure Tourism
Building on from year one, this challenging programme offers students the chance to develop advanced adventure tourism skills. You'll study eight courses including three compulsory, plus up to five technical adventure skills courses.
Year Three: Diploma in Adventure Tourism Leadership
Building on from year two, you'll be able to gain industry tickets, develop instruction and leadership skills or choose tourism management courses to enhance business skills.

YEAR ONE:
Applicants under 20 years:
- A minimum of 40 credits at NCEA L2 across four subjects (at least 12 credits in one subject) OR
- National Certificate in Tourism and travel (Introductory Skills) (Level 2) or equivalent
Applicants over 20 years:
- No formal qualifications needed
All applicants:
- Must have adequate level of physical fitness, previous participation in outdoor activities and demonstrate their likelihood of success through referee, reports or an interview
Applicants whose first language is not English are required to demonstrate an IELTS Academic score of 5.5 or equivalent.
YEAR TWO:
All applicants:
- Successful completion of the NMIT Certificate in Adventure Tourism (Level 4) OR demonstrated equivalent skills and knowledge
- Must have adequate level of physical fitness, previous participation in outdoor activities and demonstrate their likelihood of success through referee, reports or an interview
Applicants whose first language is not English are required to demonstrate an IELTS Academic score of 5.5 or equivalent.
YEAR THREE:
All applicants:
- Successful completion of the NMIT Diploma in Adventure Tourism (Level 5) OR demonstrated equivalent skills and knowledge
- Must have adequate level of physical fitness, previous participation in outdoor activities and demonstrate their likelihood of success through referee, reports or an interview
Applicants whose first language is not English are required to demonstrate an IELTS Academic score of 6.0 or equivalent.
