Te Tari Māori / School of Māori Studies

NMIT’s Te Tari Māori / School of Māori Studies came into fruition following a recommendation from Iwi and Māori and a Nelson Polytechnic working party recommendation in 1992. In 1994 the first Māori language programmes began at Te Tari Māori.

Our programmes enable students to study at levels from foundation to advanced, and offer a pathway to learners being able to pursue higher learning or a career with te reo Māori.
