Marlborough Region

The Marlborough Region embraces three distinct landscapes from the breathtaking blue-green waters of the Marlborough Sounds to central Marlborough, the vineyard country famed for its award-winning Sauvignon Blanc, through to the stunning high country of the Awatere Valley and south along the Pacific Coast to Kaikoura, home to whales, seals and dolphins.

The region's commercial hub is Blenheim, a town of 25,000 people. It regularly gets some of the highest sunshine hours in New Zealand and has low rainfall. Its economy is based on wine, aquaculture and tourism particularly in and around the stunning Marlborough Sounds. It is home to the Marlborough Food and Wine Festival and the Omaka Airshow.

The region has low unemployment and plenty of seasonal and part time work opportunities.
