The NMIT Staff Awards 2008 were awarded at the staff Christmas BBQ.

There are three categories of awards. These are (along with the winners):

NMIT Excellence in Education Awards

• The Cretney Award for an established academic staff member (who has been employed with NMIT for two years or more) - Carole Crawford
• The Barns Award for an academic staff member who has been employed with NMIT for less than two years - Derrick Goodall

• To recognise excellent (allied staff) work practice at NMIT - Vicki Bryson and Liana Crofskey

And a new category of award

• The Rhoades Award is to recognise excellence in team work at NMIT - 'P Block' team - Jeff Wilson, Sarah Abrey, Karen Greville, Beth Mills, Shine Kelly, Donna Leith and Calvin Tuck
