Transfers & Withdrawals

Enrolled students should contact their school administrator immediately if they are planning to withdraw or transfer onto another programme or course.

Transfers

Transfers must be approved by the programme leader of the school you are studying in. Once approved, you will need to complete a Programme Transfer Form and submit it to the school administration office.

Your fees will be adjusted and you will either receive a refund or will need to pay the extra amount. An administration fee may also be charged for each transfer. Transfers are not normally approved once more than three weeks of the programme have been completed and, if you have been attending your first course, you may be charged for some programme resources.

Withdrawals

To withdraw from a programme or course, you will need to complete and sign a Withdrawal Application form and return it to the school administration office for consideration.

In all cases the date of withdrawal from a programme or course will be the date the Withdrawal Application form is received by the school administration office.

You must notify StudyLink if you are receiving a Student Loan or Student Allowance.

Refunds

A refund of course fees will only be considered if a Withdrawal / Refund Application form has been completed, signed and submitted no later than three weeks after the start of the programme or course.*

In all cases the date of withdrawal from a programme or course will be the date the Withdrawal Application form is received by the school administration office.

An administration fee may be withheld from the amount of any refund.

For full NMIT programmes (or year 1, 2 or 3 if multi-year programmes):
If a student enrols on all courses at the beginning of the year, then later in the year withdraws from one or more of the courses that have not yet started (or within three weeks after they have started), they will be entitled to a refund for that course (or courses).

Where course materials are retained for any course they withdraw from, NMIT reserves the right to retain the course materials component of the enrolment fee when refunding the student.

*This does not apply to short courses, where no refund will be given once the course has started, except under exceptional circumstances and at the approval of the Head of School or Director of Finance and Corporate Services.

International Students
International students wishing to transfer or withdraw are subject to different regulations. A fee may be charged, and the student may forfeit some or all of their fees and / or application fee.
